Consultations
Worried about your pet’s health? There’ s no need to. Our affordable consultations will give your pet a complete Health Check by an experienced veterinary surgeon to give you peace of mind. If any treatments are required, we’ll discuss all the options and can even give you a written estimate of costs. Consultations are available by appointment each weekday from 9am to 6pm (7.30pm on Wednesdays).
Vaccinations
Protect your loved ones with our comprehensive vaccination programmes. Dogs, cats and rabbits are all susceptible to killer diseases that are easily prevented and you’re never too old to start. We now recommend that all dogs receive a vaccination against Kennel Cough routinely as this disease is becoming more widespread on the street too.
Worming and Flea Treatments
If the thought of fleas makes you scratch, then you perhaps need to read on. Without regular treatment most animals carry these parasites and – in the case of fleas – each one becomes hundreds rapidly. 95% of fleas live in your home environment, just jumping on board your pet for a few minutes when they need to feed. So treating your house is just as important as treating your pets. Our vets have selected the most effective flea-killers available on prescription and we’ll gladly tailor a flea control programme for your furry friends. And don’t forget the wriggly parasites inside your pets too. It’s a myth that pets don’t have worms just because you can’t see them in their toileting. All pets need worming with a broad-spectrum wormer every 3 months and we can help you decide which products are best for you and your pet.
Nurse Clinics
If your pooch needs a pedicure or your cat is piling on the pounds, our veterinary nurses may be able to help. Nurse Clinics may be able to solve some of your pet’s less serious problems at a reduced cost. Our nurses are qualified to advise on diets, dental care and how to look after pets of different ages, from babies to geriatrics. Call us today to find out more.
Neutering and Surgery
Fido is unlikely to bring up the subject of Family Planning himself but as a responsible owner you will know that neutering is important for most family pets. These routine ‘day-patient’ procedures make pets more socially acceptable but did you know that there are huge healthcare benefits, including reducing the risk of cancer? Our vets and nurses will happily talk to you about the advantages of spaying (females) and castration (males). Our surgical facilities are superb and we’re able to perform all sorts of complicated surgical procedures, not just neutering.
Microchipping
Don’t get lost, get chipped! That’s the message from vets, animal welfare charities and rescue centres who are all pro-chipping. Microchips are tiny and carry a code unique to your pet. They are implanted by a very simple injection into the scruff of your pet’s neck – just like a booster – and cannot be removed. Should your pet get lost, a network of scanners kept by vets and rescue centres enables us to identify any animal and trace their owners immediately. Microchipping is also useful for valuable animals that may be stolen.
Dentistry
We like to see puppies and kittens brushing their teeth from an early age because it definitely helps to prevent future problems. But most of us will have to visit the Dentist as we get older and pets are no different. Over time ‘tartar’, a brown, hard deposit, builds up on teeth and hides the decay process getting underway underneath. Caught early, our vets can scale and polish your pet’s teeth with the latest Ultrasound technology, giving your pet fresh breath and saving their teeth for years to come
Emergencies
Our phones are manned 24 hours a day to provide you with expert advice in the event of an emergency. Just call 01685 878900 and our experienced nurses will help you with First Aid advice and, if necessary, arrange an emergency appointment with a veterinary surgeon.
Pet Supplies
Need something for your pet? Ask us if we can help. We stock a range of foods and can get most pet foods and equipment delivered to the practice the next day. So whether you are looking for a diet for your new tortoise or something to calm a firework-frenzied dog, we can probably help.
Euthanasia
We keep our pets going through thick and thin. But what happens when things aren’t going right? How will you know when the time comes? Vets work foremost for animals and we will give you an independent assessment to help you. If you think you may need to have a pet euthanased (put to sleep) we will try to find a quieter appointment time. Euthanasia is a simple, quick and painless overdose of anaesthetic. You are welcome to stay with your pet if you wish. We can take care of your pet afterwards, arrange a number of different types of cremation or you are welcome to take your pet home for burial.
